Nehru Zoological park is located at a distance of 16 kms form Hyderabad in Bahadurpura area. The park is huge covering an area of 380 acres. Timings are from : 8.30 am – 5.30 pm. Entry Fee: Rs. 25 for Adults, Rs. 15 for Children. You can also take your four wheeler inside. For that they charge Rs. 500 and they will allow 5 people entry free with that. The park is closed on Monday. The park is well maintained and there is a description board for each animal over there. I have added the information taken from these boards. Nehru Zoological Park:
There was an aquarium in the park. Entry fee for the aquarium was Rs. 2. I took a couple of shots of Gold fish:
Galapagos giant tortoise (Testudo Elephantopus): Found in Galapagos islands. They are herbivores. It feeds on cactus leaves and berries. They reach 1.5 meter in length and 0.75 meter in height. They travel during night. They may weigh up to 200 kgs. and live for more than 100 years. The males are bigger than the females. They lay about 10-20 eggs in a clutch. These are the slowest of the animals. It takes one hour for this tortoise to cross 360 yards.
Black and white colobus monkey (Colobus guereza kikuyuensis): Found in central Africa from Cameroon to Ethiopia and Tanzania. Inhabitants of tropical rain and montane forest. It’s a large monkey with basically a glossy black coat with white running from it’s shoulders down the side of its back to its tail. The tail is black at its base and white as it runs to the end. There is usually a white band, white whiskers and white beard. Lives in groups of 7, hardly coming to the ground except to obtain salt and water plants. It feeds on leaves and fruits. New born is almost wholly white at birth. They live up to 24 years.
