Nocturnal animal house: There was a nocturnal animal house in the zoo which was pretty unique. They keep the animals in the dark at day time and they light up the nocturnal animal house at night time. So, the visitors can see the animals living in their natural habitat. Entry fee was RS. 10. Nocturnal animals are those which usually like to rest in their nests and burrows in the day time and go about their daily tasks of digging, burrowing and looking for food at night. To show the daily activities of these animals their wake-sleep cycles are reversed. With the help of regulated electrical light, there by indulging their normal night time activity during day, the animals are slowly conditioned to this changed Bio-rhythm.
Mottled Wood Owl (Strix ocellata): Found throughout India except Assam. Crepuscular and inhabits wooded country. Feeds on rodents, lizards, and large insects. It protects crops.
