Visiting Nagarhole National Park


Nagarhole National Park covers 64,330 hectares and is 80 km away from the city of Mysore. There are many different species of animals that are found in this park and just some of them include wild elephants, leopards, tigers, mouse deer, four-horned antelope, wild boar, hyena, otter and mongoose.

This is said to be one of the best wildlife parks throughout the whole of India and it was set up in 1955. Nagarhole National Park was then greatly expanded in 1975 to include more forest. The Kabini River is located to the north of the park and to the south you will find the Bandipur National Park.

The climate is something to think about if you are planning to travel to this area. Monsoon season can be quite unpredictable, however it normally rains from June to September. Also, during the winter temperatures can be around 14 degrees Celsius so you will probably want to come during their summer from March through to May.

For those interested in flora, there is plenty of plant-life to keep you occupied in this park. The most common vegetation to find around here are southern tropical, moist, mixed deciduous types. There is also a substantial eastern portion which integrate into a dry deciduous type. There are a lot of different kinds of trees and this will prove very intriguing to study if you are interested.

This is a fantastic place to visit if you want to really get back to nature. So be sure to do some research and have a great time if you decide to visit.
