Bhilai to Sirpur on bike: Chapter 10: Laxman Temple, Sirpur: Part 1

After the ancient temple we went to see the most famous temple of Sirpur, the Laxman temple. I found the description of temple written on a board by Archaeological Survey of India Raipur Circle, Raipur (C.G.): Laxman temple of Sirpur is the most important brick temple of India. Constructed by Vasata, mother of great Pandu Vamshi king Mahashivagupta Balarjun in memory of her husband Harsha gupta. Epigraphic record says that this temple was dedicated to Lord Visnu. The east facing temple is constructed over a 6 feet high platform and fronted by a pillared mandapa. Sheshashai Vishnu along with his other incarnations such as Matsya, Kurma, Narasimha, etc. are depicted on the doorframe. On the basis of the epigraphic record and style of architecture this temple is datable to seventh century AD. Here are the photos of Laxman Temple from different angles:
