Just opposite to Narayanappa Mutt is the hill where Bhima killed the demon Bakasura. Kaivara was known as Ekachakrapura in Dwaparayuga. Pandava lived during their exile in this village for some time. According to the legend, a demon Bakasura stayed in the hill in Dwaparayuga. For food and all he used to visit the village Ekachakrapura and took people and animals. So, the local King and other village leaders decided to have a deal with the demon. They agreed to send every month a human being along with other food items. So, every month a house is picked to offer the sacrifice. During their exile, Pandava came to this village and took refuge in a Brahmin’s family. After some time when there is turn of this Brahmin family to send a human, Kunti (mother of Pandavas) adviced to send Bhima to the demon. Initially the Brahmin family was reluctant as Pandavas were the guest, however, when Kunti said that she has 5 sons and if one of them dies she will not be as grieved as the Brahmin family as for Brahmin family there was a sole earner and if he dies it will become very hard for the rest of the family to survive. Hence, it was decided that Bhima will go for the sacrifice. On the scheduled day Bhima along with other food items goes to the hill. Before reaching to the top he eats all the food items he was carrying for the demon. And after reaching the top, he slays the demon in a fierce fight.
