Bugle Rock Park, Basavanagudi, Bangalore: Part 1: Statue of Dr. D.V. Gundappa

Bugle Rock is a huge rock situated in Basavanagudi (“Basava” means ‘bull’ and “gudi” means ‘temple’). The rock is an abrupt rise above the ground of peninsular gneiss as the main rock formation and with an assessed age of about 3000 million years. Amidst the natural rock formations, a small park with waterfalls and fountains has been developed. he densely tree lined park developed by the Horticulture Department of the Government of Karnataka is considered a “walkers paradise” since over 750 to 1000 visitors (70 per cent of them senior citizens) visit the park every day. Gate of Bugle Rock Park:

The outer wall of an old water tank in the confines of the Bugle rock park has murals of famous people of Bangalore. It includes Sir M. Visvesvarayya, Dr. V.K. Gokak, Dr. Masti Venkatesh Iyengar, etc.

A place to relax:

Statue of Dr. D.V. Gundappa (1887-1976). There was a board near the statue which read: Eminent Poet the sage of “Mankuthimmana Kagga”. A guide to culture and the Gita master of prose mine of priceless memories. The architect of the Gokhale institute of public affairs. Model Journalist and ideal citizen. An illuminating thinker.
