Destination: Coorg

I have been thinking to write this travel blog from a long time but could not got enough time as I was busy designing my personal page maneesh.co.in and the educational site thatsblog.com Okay no problem its all set and I will start now! It was very hot in May last year and I told my friends lets go to some hill station. I was consulting with a colleague as where to go…Got couple of places Kodaikanal and Ooty, but I don’t know why we settled for Coorg. So the plan was to start at early morning around 5 am. We booked a cab and we were 7 people. I was having some work the earlier night and couldn’t sleep well, but still managed to get ready at 5 am. We had breakfast at 7 on the way to Mysore. After that it was a drive for couple of hours till we reached Mysore. The distance of Bangalore to Mysore is about 130 kms. and roughly it takes 3 or 3 and half hours by road. After crossing Mysore a guy suggested that we should check out the Buddhist monastery in Kushalnagar first and then to go to Coorg. I wasn’t expecting a Buddhist monastery in Karnataka, but thought lets check it out! On the way to Kushalnagar I found many tibetan people driving bikes and all and as we approached Kushalnagar suddenly the whole place changed. there were small fancy shops selling crafted goods, nice cozy restaurants i.e. every ingredient of tibetan culture. Finally we arrived at the temple and it looked average from outside having some shops nearby. But when we entered I was ecstatic by the construction of the temple. There were beautifully decorated huge structures all around. The temples shows the great skills of the artists who had created it. The blends of colors such as white, red and golden were awesome. The top of the temples were decorated with golden figures(I am not sure if they are pure gold). The walls were having all sorts of tibetan paintings, dragons, etc. and the use of rich colors like purple, red, green and yellow made the paintings look amazing. We went inside the temple and we found 3 golden gigantic statues in front of us. Oh man! that was so cool. I have never seen such big and beautiful statues ever. That was really a treat to watch. Inside the temple its very quite, we found some people praying. The whole room was having so much of positive energy that after standing there for ten minutes or so you will feel fresh. Outside the temple there were small gardens having good collection of flora.
Outside the temple we found some nice shops selling crafted items like bags, cups, wooden toys, clothes, and every item was having a blend of tibetan culture. After the shopping we moved for the lunch. We were all very hungry at that time. The quality was not important but the quantity was
Then, after a good lunch we decided to go to Kaveri Nisargadhama, a nice and beautiful place just 2 kms. from Kushalnagar. Thats it guys I will continue this in the next post.
