Skandagiri is also known as Kalwarahalli Betta for a strange reason. In Kannada, Kalwara means thieves, Halli means village and Betta means hill. There have been many cases in the past, of thieves pretending as Parking ticket collectors and guides, and when the tourists are up the hill they either take the vehicle or vehicle parts. Now, you can find a Government parking area for the vehicles.
