Devarayanadurga, Tumkur: Chapter 3: Namada Chilume

Namada Chilume lies in the base of the hill. According to the legend, Lord Rama wanted to wet Nama (paste to be applied in the forehead), but he couldn’t find water close by. So he shot an arrow in the ground which resulted in a spring (chilume). Hence, the name of the place is Namada Chilume. Strangely, the water still comes out of the spring. The spring is considered as sacred. It is also believed to be the origin of the Jayamangali river.
