Dandiya Raas dance during Navaratri at Palace Grounds, Bangalore

Dandiya is a folk dance of Vrindavan. It depicts the scenes of Holi, and leela of Lord Krishna and Radha. It is mostly done in Navaratri celebrations. Dandiya dance is performed when people form a circle having sticks in their hands. This stick is actually known as Dandiya. These Dandiya sticks are about 18 inches long. Each person holds a couple of these sticks during the dance. With the rhythm and the beats, people who are on the opposite sides of the circle hit their sticks during the dance.
