Trip to Varanasi aka Banaras aka Kashi: Chapter 4: Ganga Aarti at Dasaswamedh Ghat

After Ramnagar fort we went to Dasaswamedh Ghat for Ganga Aarti. A group of priests daily in the evening (at about 7pm) in this ghat perform “Agni Pooja” (Worship to Fire) wherein a dedication is made to Lord Shiva, River Ganga, Surya (Sun), Agni (Fire), and the whole universe. The place suddenly lightens up with lamps lights and the colors are so magnificent. Thousands of people gather to see the aarti even in a normal day. Here are the photos:
