Trip to Varanasi aka Banaras aka Kashi: Chapter 5: Part 8: Alleyways (galiyan) of Varanasi

The next morning I took some photos of the alleyways (galiyan). Varansi is famous for its alleyways. The alleyways are quite narrow, but even then I saw some people driving bikes in that. Varansi is a unique city in many ways. When I first saw the alleyways I was amazed to the fact that they all look the same. For the first day I wasn’t even sure about the route to our lodge. But after a couple of days I got the idea to identify them. There’s something very peculiar about the alleyways. That’s they look quite old and there had been no painting or coloring done from years. It’s all raw and that’s what makes it so wonderful. Here are some photos:
